I'll likely never move out of my parents house 'cause I waste money on dumb shit I don't need.

Some would argue that it gets worse. Such as that one time when I said "I'm my own man, I can have Pogos for dinner!" It was not a smart move.

Man, when I was 16-18 I wanted nothing more than to move out of my parents house. I actually moved out when I was 17.5 and moved into a place with my GF at the time. That ended up not working out (crazy, but OMG in bed), so I moved back home for a few months. As soon as I had my shit together again, I was back out. This was all while completing HS and going to college.

Long story short, I don’t know how people are just ok with living under their parents roof.

This is not meant as a dig on you, I’d seriously like to know.

In many places, rent and housing prices have been increasing at double the rate of wage growth for the past 35yrs making buying or even renting 2-3x as expensive as it was in the 1990's.

I’m looking for a house and from the tax records of all the places I’m looking at, the ‘cheap’ house all doubled in price in the last 15yrs (and half of that increase was in the last 5yrs).

I saved up $25k in the last 5yrs for a house; however, in that same time every house I’ve looked at has gone up in price by >$50k. Meanwhile, in the 7 years I’ve been renting an apartment my rent has nearly doubled. Living with my parents would save me nearly $15k a year (it’d probably be more like $10k since they’d only let stay rent free for the first 6 months or so).

Congrats on saving for a house. I bought mine during the Great Recession. It w as the only way I could afford it. (It may happen again. I see a lot more advertising for no/low money down car loans extended up to 84/96 months, and mortgages with 1-3% down. Subprime loans are going to go tits up again sometime.) Are you handy? Look for a fore closure or short sale. Good luck.

I’m thinking about waiting a year or two until the next ‘economic downturn’ and buying then. I just hate continuing to pay more in rent for the same damn apartment that’s only gotten worse as I’ve been living in it.

There has to be a correction in housing prices coming, there’s no way a 50% increase in ‘value’ happened in the area in the last 5 years. My rent went from $700 per month to $1000 per month since I moved into my one bedroom apartment 5 years ago (suburban north Texas). I’m going to see if I can negotiate a better price since my lease is up (I originally planned on buying my sister’s house this summer but she found out she can work from home and doesn’t need to move closer to her new job).

If I buy a house I can get a garage and quit working on my car in the parking lot and I’d have a place to store a second car ; however, if I have to buy a house I won’t have money to buy a second car (I’ve been waffling on the idea of a dedicated track car since I did 22 trackdays last year and am signed up for over 30 this year).

We bought our house under foreclosure, we were able to get a $147k house for $45k?

Sure housing prices have gone up, that doesn’t mean you have to buy something in an expensive area, it also doesn’t mean you have to buy an expensive house.

As far as renting, prices seem the same around here now as they were 15 years ago. I can still get a 2 bedroom apt for $5-600/month, so long as I stay outside the city.

To me moving out was more important that having “things”, so I kept a cheap beater ( not that that’s changed ), I dropped things I didn’t need, and saved. When I was 17 I had enough saved to get a place and pay for schooling. Now at 33 we have our house almost paid off and are looking to move into the country, seems prices are about the same today as they were when we bought our house 7 years ago.

“ seems prices are about the same today as they were when we bought our house 7 years ago”

That sucks. My home’s value has doubled since I bought it in 2009. They’ve been putting up “luxury” apartments all over the city which has increased rents. They just raised my sister’s rent from $ 900 to $1200 for a shitty one bedroom in an old, crappy complex. $500/mo here would get you a crack den studio with immigrants chained up next door (which I would still take over living with my parents in my 20s).

Broly was $99. Goku Black was also $99 but I got him a long time ago. The brand is SH Figuarts which are more high-detailed and better articulated, so they’ll be pricey.

Aw, well at least they look nice! I look at funko pop versions of the  future trunks DBZ version sometimes. I like the purple hair more than the blue.

If you’re interested not all SH Figuarts are super-pricey. Average price is I’d say $65, which is worth the admission in my opinion. Some figures just get pricey, especially after they sell out. The original Future Trunks at one point was like $300 in alot of places.
